Guiding You Through The Twists And Turns Of Your Unique Career Path
Losing a job, or pivoting to find a more fulfilling job is never easy. It's especially hard when trying to do so on your own. Back on the Path (BOP) is a job search networking group dedicated to helping people looking for employment throughout Roanoke, Lynchburg and New River Valley.
Whether you’re seeking a career pivot or new direction, better work/life balance, a resume refresh or new or updated skills, Back on the Path can help.
Back on the Path is comprised
of job seekers (Hikers) and a team of supportive and well connected professionals (Helpers). We welcome both Hikers needing guidance
and Helpers wanting to share their knowledge and support.
Volunteer Helpers assist with networking, fostering encouragement, providing special training, and keeping you well informed about current job search strategies. They help you plot your
trail map to lead to a
better opportunity.
BOP was started by church members at Cave Spring United Methodist Church in 1999 as a weekly outreach ministry to offer comfort and encouragement to those within the congregation who lost their jobs. Soon after, news of Back on the Path was broadcast to the community through local news media and word-of-mouth.
Seeing how the program was evolving, the founders decided others in the community could benefit and Back on the Path (BOP) was born as an outreach mission to job seekers throughout Roanoke, Lynchburg, and New River Valley.
First, a caring-and-sharing forum was created, where hikers discussed their individual job searches with each other, including common problems and challenges, and shared advice. The format has progressed to include career-related educational programs focused on improving job-finding skills, presented by some of the region’s top experts.
If you've lost your job, or are looking for a better opportunity, we invite you to join us. Back on the Path charges no fees or dues. The meetings are informal and set in a comfortable church reception hall.
During the COVID outbreak we are meeting online every Tuesday evening at 7 pm. See our calendar for this week’s topic and sign on information.
